Frequently Asked Questions
The web design process for our firm is as follows:
- Project Understanding
This web site design stage consists of defining the scope of the process, this starts with a meeting. After the meeting we will have a better idea of what is involved with your project and how we can pursue a solution. - Site Definition
We will need to make a "map" of your website or the website to be created, this is created and added to the project scope. After the project scope is given to the client with the quote, a 50% deposit will need to be made. - Graphic / Visual Design
Our designers will work with the feedback we have from our meetings. A website template is created as a design, that "template" will be used to create various areas of the web site once complete. Special web pages might need to be mocked up as well for some special projects. Generally there are up to 3 design rounds as feedback is received from our clients, once that is complete we then need the client to approve the web page and web site design. - Development of the Website
Our website developers begin site development after approvals are given by our client. The web site development starts with the frame work of the site then ends with the details being filled in. In some cases we create all of the content, in others the client creates it and injects it when they have a content management system. - Beta Launch
Durring the beta launch phase we check for errors or bugs and receive any client feedback and make needed adjustments to finalize the project. - Launch
The site is officially launched and the project has come to a completion. We require full payment at this stage, we also provide our clients with 45 days of support after launch. This process or a very similar process is extremely common for web site design and interactive agency's to use.
When pricing a website there are several factors which determine the total cost of you site. Some of these factors include the following:
- How many pages will your site have?
- Will you be selling products thought the site
- Do you need illustrations in the design
- Various graphic work needed
- How interactive does the site need to be
After the website is complete, other Expenses include Domain registration and Hosting
We most certainly do update existing websites. We actually get a lot of this kind of work. Some companies want their site to have a new look, others are leaving their current website developer and want a new web site development company to manage their old site. We get some projects where clients want us to create new pages within their sites, or repair problems on their current site.

A static website is made of html and CSS only. It is comprised of individual pages. If it is to be updated it has to be updated by using ftp, and tools installed on a computer. Changes should be made by a qualified website developer.
A dynamic site has more complex code that can do more things. It uses a database to store it's information, it has the ability to take large amounts of data and display them in a functional way. Our website is a dynamic site. One of the main advantages of using a dynamic site is that generally web based tools that are easy to use are created for the client to take advantage of. This allows them to update their site, or a calendar, their shopping cart etc. themselves.
Sites that are dynamic greatly reduce the need for ongoing maintenance. This is usually a practical approach to managing content, and minimizing web site maintenance costs.
Another benefit to a dynamic site is that when it comes time to do a redesign of the website the design can be changed without migrating or moving content over. Migration is a long process depending on the size of the website and this can also be costly.
Dynamic sites are generally more expandable and tend to develop less problems over a long period of time, such as broken links, lack of continuity in site design, textual and style inconsistencies.
Selecting a domain name for your website is an important task. You should take your time and try to stick to these rules of thumb.
- Easy to remember
- Short
- Relevent
- Make sure to get a .com whenever possible, this is important
- Go with a reliable Domain Registration Service, I recommend Directnic for this Directnic.com
- Make sure to use your correct contact (email especially) when registering domain so you get notices, and just register for 5 years to remove the need for renewal every year and protect your domain.
It is important when you are in the web design stages to consult your web site designer in this area to make sure there will be no issues with hosting. Many elements of the web page design will be incorporated around the domain name chosen, it is important that the domain is pre-selected and registered before the web site design has begun.
